Penitence

pattern

// penitence //

Do not disdain your misery and sinfulness. Do not keep grieving that you do not progress in faith.

Aren't we focusing on counting up all the sins and trying to pick them as the lints ? Aren't we paying too much attention to follow the Law and keeping ourselves spotless as the Pharisees?

Due to our misery and sinfulness, we need the Lord and we are drawn to Him, and they draws God to us, too. If the misery and sinfulness were nothing but harmful, our Lord who is love itself would have been taken them away.

So, if we are only counting how many times we have disobeyed the Ten Commandments, our penitence is meaningless. The first thing we have to put our eyes on is God's love, not on the Law nor our sins. It is under the light of His love, we have to expose our sins.

Accept our imperfection and weakness as they are. Kneel down before Him and lift up our heart to Him. Then, pray that God's love and mercy will fulfill our misery. Let our misery understand how amazingly deep His love.  Finally, pray that God's love will shine in the world even more through our misery.

This should be the penitence for the Christians.

When God Works

pattern

// When God Works //

When God works within us, it is nothing dramatic. He gently whispers to us and secretly works among us.

Elijah did not find Him in the storm nor in the earthquake nor in the fire. He found God whispering to him in silence. Jesus did not come as a glorious king, but as a powerless baby born in a humble village without being noticed.

So, if we seek something dramatic in our spiritual life, we will get disappointed. Instead, we must turn our attention to our heart where God is whispering to us and is working quietly for us.
